Megumi
Hayashibara is the key figure to have brought the "Voice Actress" boom
for the last few years and continues to lead the scene as number one. Her
unlimited talents go beyond her profession as voice actress and is capable
of carrying out a wide variety of work as DJ, singer and a writer of lyrics
and essays. She has released a number of single and album records, and
has always ranked high on the Original Confidence Charts (a magazine hit
chart known as Oricon) building a reputation for herself as a fine singer.
Making
her album debut in 1991 with "Half & Half", the record turned out to be a long time seller. The album "bertemu" released in 1996, ranked
number 3 in the Oricon charts. In August of 2001, her single "Over Soul"
which was the opening theme song for the "Shaman King" ranked number 7
in the Oricon charts and sold over 110,000 copies. And in March of 2002,
the new opening theme song of "Shaman King" titled "Northern Lights" ranked
number 3 in the Oricon charts and sold over 120,000 copies. Her latest
single release "KOIBUMI" ranked number 7 in the Oricon charts selling over
70,000 copies and sales still continues. Her representative work in Starchild
Records productions include Momo in "Magical Princess Minky Momo", Nuku
Nuku in "All Purpose Cultural Cat-Girl Nuku Nuku", Rei Ayanami in "Neon
Genesis Evangelion" and others. Outside the StarChild productions, she
has been active in a countless number of animation works, such as Bakabon in "Heisei Tensai Bakabon", Ranma in "Ranma 1/2", Nanami in "Tico & Friends" and so many productions unable to list up and is recognized as charismatic figure.
