he Mercenary City of Karuda is one of the four warrior cities
that protect the Holy Kingdom of Ashilana. In this city, the Sevalle,
the highest rank that can be attained by a warrior, is honored and feared.
Gau Ban, a warrior apprentice, receives intensive daily training
from his adoptive sister, Ella Ragu, a warrior who named herself
after the "Shadow Skill" martial arts technique. Gau's aim is
to surpass "Scarface" a living legend who is known as the most
courageous warrior in the two-thousand-year history of Karuda.
This is the first in a series of OVA based on the popular comic created
by Megumu Okada.
After being seen off by Fowari and Low, Ella and Gau go
to visit the grave of Gau's parents. Each year on the 14th day of Blue Moon,
they return to Gau's hometown where the grave is located. During their journey,
Gau asks Ella what is the purpose of fighting. Instead of answering,
Ella begins to put Gau through rigorous training. Ella, who whips Gau
without effort, points out his two weaknesses: too much reliance on power
and too many hand techniques. Though he listens as Ella explains that
Shadow Skill is based on leg techniques, Gau, who insists that
hand techniques are more reliable, fails to comprehend her. Ella merely
mumbles, "You still just don't get it."
In the meantime, the two are being followed by the Warriors
of Wolfen who have taken advantage of a golden opportunity to kill them while
they are separated from their |

of the enemy makes their move to trap the two. Gau confronts
and repels his pursuers' attack, and then comes to a realization.
There's no way for him to become stronger other than by facing
an opponent stronger than himself in a battle for his life.
Ella tells Gau that she is aware of his desire to surpass Scarface
