T
his is a TV animation of the comics (of the same name) by Ryu Fujisaki taken from the Chinese classic "Houshin-Engi", arranged for and serialized on Weekly Shonen Jump. The director is Junji Nishimura of Studio DEEN, well known for his work in "You' re Under Arrest" series. The stories have been substantially restructured to Nishimura's original style.
  There used to be two worlds. In the heavens was the Sennin Kai, world where the spirits (senninn) of special powers lived. And on earth, existed the human world where people lived. The period was the Yin Dynasty. The thirtieth emperor of the Yin was Zhou wang who excelled in both literary and military arts and was renowned for being a wise monarch. His dynasty which was centered in the capitol Chouka was very powerful and had a great influence over the surrounding nations. However, the beautiful		 *yokai sennin (*an evil spirited apparition in female form) Dakki seduces the heart of Zhou wang with her magic and becomes his empress, thereby not only gaining an access into the kingdom but coming in complete control of the politics of Yin. This is the age of fear and turbulence in the world of men.
  Tien-Son The Great Master of the Mount Kunlun, a brilliant but a slovenly sennin worries about the situation. He decides to give Taikoubou the treasure tool "Power Leash" empowered to control the atmosphere and the sacred creature Sibuxiang (*a creature that looked like a flying hippo) and orders him to carry out the "Houshin Plan", to get rid of all the bad sennin who have sneaked into the human world. (*a plan to seal in the evil spirits into the Shinkai) But Taikoubo judges that it's too much trouble to strike down all the apparitions and decides to go straight to
the capital Chouka to directly strike down the wicked Empress Dakki. But he is easily struck down by a *yokai sennin Shin-Kun who becomes curious about Taikoubo and comes to test him.(*evil spirited apparition) Shinkohyo uses a powerful magical tool that evokes thunder. Taikoubo feeling the difference in power from the top class yokai sennin, decides to collect a group of those who are powerful. He can arrange to have them fight battles in his place.
  Meanwhile Dakki who is doing exactly what she wants to in Chouka learns about Taikoubo and about the "Houshin Plan" from Shinkohyo. There is also talk of a child who is born with a sacred tool within him in the land of Chintokan. Chi-chan of the Soo-Chi Castle learns from a fortuneteller of the calamity that is to befall on him. In each of the regions far and wide, great waves of history are about to come whirling in...
