nimation
of the very popular serialized comics by Ken
Akamatsu, the winner of the Kodansha Comic
Strips Award. Yoshiaki Iwasaki who directed
this series is also directing Akamatsu's second
creation "Rikujo Boeitai Mao chan".
When Keitaro Urashima was little he made a promise with
a girl to "go to the Tokyo University together with her". Now he can't even remember what she looked like but he is still cramming for
the second year to get in (having failed the first year). Keitaro is not a very
cool guy. He is not very good at his studies or sports and he has this one hobby
of collecting pictures of himself from the "purikura" photo machines. No wonder girls are not attracted to him! One day he receives
a "D" on his Tokyo University eligibility test at his prep school and is about to
just runaway from home like he often does. Then a call comes from his Aunt Hina
to come right away.
When Keitaro reaches his aunt's hotel, he finds it has
turned into a girls' dormitory, "Hinata-so". Keitaro does not realize what is going on and when he enters the dorm, they
mistake him for a pervert, and there is a big commotion. With the help of his
cousin Haruka, he somehow survives the mishap but for some reason they mistake
him for a Tokyo University student. Suffering, Keitaro ends up being the caretaker
of Hinata-so.
At the Hinata-so, there is another person aiming for
the Tokyo University, Naru Narusegawa. But the difference is that she has the
top grades from the nation-wide trial tests. She covers for him when she realizes
he is lying about being a Tokyo University

student. Actually it seems
she also has someone with whom she made a promise
to go to Tokyo University. Could the little girl
Keitaro made a promise with be Narusegawa? Also
living in Hinata-so are introverted Shinobu Maehara
with perfect housekeeping skills, mysterious and
energetic foreigner, Kaora Su, an expert swords
woman Motoko Aoyama and Sake loving, gambling loving
free part-timer Mitsune Konno, a whole cast of
original and attractive women. What kind of days
await Keitaro? And what will happen with the entrance
exam for the Tokyo University and the "Girl of that promise"...?
