atsuo Sato who created a big sensation in the animation industry with "Martian Successor Nadesico" wrote the original story, took the role of director and was responsible for the series development.Takahiro Yoshimatsu, the general director for the theatrical version of the "Slayers", was chosen to do the character design and to be the Executive Animation Director. Yuji Ohno, a great master well known for his work in "Lupin III" is the music director. What a formidable group of staff. The animation production was left to the Mad House well known for the quality of its pictures.
The stage is set in the suburbs of Tokyo, in the not so far future, where aliens from outer space

suddenly make their appearance. The story follows the changes in the environment due to their coming and everyday lives of children who accept these changes and grow up under these circumstances.
In the year 2070, a huge unidentified flying object appears in the seaside suburbs of Tokyo, and paralyzes all existing networks of any kind, such as communication and transportation networks. Particularly the transportation routes are targeted, electricity is cut off in the whole Kanto region and a state of emergency is declared. But due to the mysterious "Giants" who appear in the sky, the situation is solved. Everything goes back to being normal as if nothing

had happened.
With the appearance of the UFO, the government makes an announcement confirming the existences of aliens. People who had been vaguely aware of their existence are convinced and accept this as fact.
Amidst the chaos, one boy transfers to Sumimaru Junior High School in Tenmou City. His name is Muryo Subaru. He wears a school uniform, which is rare for this age and in time attracts the curiosity of those around him. Muryo's distinct aura arouses class committee member Hajime Murata's curiosity, too. The next day, Muryo is called out by a classical martial artist student and vice chairman of the students' council, Kyoichi Moriguchi. It seems there is some sort of connection between the alien commotion and the students' council. Hajime hears about the commotion and runs over. What Hajime witnessed at the scene was Kyoichi attacking Muryo using his strange power and Muryo overpowering Kyoichi with the strength even greater.
