RINCESS TUTU is a romantic fantasy based on the original story
by Ikuko Ito who traveled to Europe many times and impressed
by the landscapes there, decided to introduce the images of European towns
in her work. The story is about the girl Ahiru (meaning Duck)
who is transformed into Princess Tutu by the powers of a magical stone.
It is a fantasy that is cute, mysterious and a little scary. Perhaps
a little goofy but cheerful and bright, Ahiru lives in the town of Kinkan.
At a glance, Kinkan looks like a pretty ordinary town
but the town's folks include alligators and cats, which talk like real people.
Yes, "this is a town where the extraordinary is not extraordinary".
Staying in the girls' dorm of the Kinkan School, Ahiru has a strange dream.
In the dream she is a real bird duck living by a lake and the guy
in the upper grade that she admires so much, Myuto is the prince.
The real duck and the girl Ahiru both have the same wish, to dance together
with the Prince, Myuto.
Myuto is a quiet and mysterious boy with soft white hair
that the wind sweeps up. He also happens to be an expert ballerina,
one of the best in the school. He is adored by everyone in the school
but always has this lonely look. Ahiru is attracted |

by that look. Ahiru has the impossible dream of dancing a duet,
a "pas de deux" with Myuto. She is still in the beginner's class at the ballet.
She does not dance well and Myuto has an attractive girlfriend Ryue,
who happens to be an excellent dancer. The idea of a dropout like herself
dancing with Myuto is just not conceivable.....
Ahiru happens to run into Myuto at an early morning ballet lesson.
Ahiru gets over-excited about the accidental meeting and she trips.
In attempting to help her, Myuto sprains his leg.
Few days later, Ahiru visits him at the hospital
